Will the governments
relentless pursuit of child pornography
result in the fifth amendment right against self-incrimination being tossed in the recycle bin?
Now have we got your attention?
The government can make me do what?
What do you mean they can force me to provide my password?
You’re nuts they can’t throw me in jail just because I exercise my Fifth amendment right to not incriminate myself?
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
The government calls it obstruction, the accused calls it encryption and the manufacturer calls it obfuscation.
How can one federal court rule the government can’t force me to give up my password and another send me to jail if I don’t?
